Setting goals are essential to achieving the success that you want in your business or personal life. Many times, we try to take on too many things at one time and we end up not reaching anything. Goals should be short-term and long-term.
Short term goals can range from one to 12 months. Long term goals are five to 10 years. In 2020, many goals were placed on hold or not achieved due to the restrictions and setbacks. Although there have been challenges, it is not too late to achieve or refine your goals for 2023.
According to (MacLeod, 2012), goals should be SMARTER. Healthcare professionals are tasked with developing strategic goals for employees, clinicians and other ancillary staff. Also, if you are planning to become certified, setting realistic goals are important.
The key to effective goal setting is to write down them, so you can measure progress and achievement.
Specific - Create objectives that are clear.
Measurable - A tracking and progress measurement.
Achievable - Set realistic goals that can be accomplished.
Relevant - Focus on the right target.
Timebound - Establish a time frame and structure.
Engaging - Create goals with purpose
Rewarding - Have outcomes that reward success.
